Online gaming

The North Carolina Education Lottery offers in-state players the ability to purchase subscriptions online for Powerball, Mega Millions and Carolina Cash 5 through its Lucke-Zone players club. The Web-based service began in December 2013; Lucky for Life was added when North Carolina joined the game in February 2016. In June 2016, the subscription service was enhanced to allow online purchases of tickets for a single drawing of any of these four games.

Tribal gaming

One tribe has a Class III gaming compact, originally allowing certain types of video games, video poker and electronic table games. A new compact was signed in November 2011 allowing live table games, which were implemented in August 2012, shortly after final Federal approval.

The North Carolina Education Lottery began ticket sales on March 30, 2006, with instant tickets. The current game offerings include instant tickets, Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, Carolina Cash 5, Carolina Pick 3 and Carolina Pick 4. The Lottery also offers periodic raffle games.

Lottery revenues provide funding for teacher salaries, pre-kindergarten programs, school construction projects and need-based scholarships and financial aid for college students.

Charitable gaming

The types of organizations eligible for a charitable bingo license are bona-fide non-profit charitable, civic, religious, fraternal, patriotic and veterans groups, volunteer fire departments, volunteer rescue squads and property owners' associations.
